My artist books class made a house visit to Karen Hanmer’s!!!!  She works from her home.  For those of you who do not know her she is a book binder and a book artist.  Her speciality is leather binding.  Her books are out of this world and she pays very close attention to details.

Robin Price was @ Columbia College!!

Robin Price’s exhibition Counting On Chance is currently showing at Columbia College in The Center of Book and Paper.  She has been publishing and letterpressing Artist Books for the past 25 years.  Her craftsmanship and printing is impeccable.  I was privileged and lucky enough to have her speak in my print media class today! She did an amazing gallery talk about her work.  It was wonderful to hear about her thought process and why she made the decisions she did in her execution of the Artist Books.  Today was a very inspiring day!! If you have a chance (no pun intended) come check out her work at 1104 S. Wabash on the 2nd floor.

Most Amazing Weekend Ever!!!

The three hour trek to Wisconsin was well worth it!  Walking through the doors at Hamilton was a feeling I am unable to describe in words….. Two Rivers, Wisconsin has an amazing thing there and I hope more people will take to time to go there even if it is in the middle of no where!  It was a jam packed weekend but I learned so much and was on cloud nine the entire time!  What a great motivation!!!

Wayzgoose This Weekend!!!!

This weekend at the Hamilton Wood Type Museum is the Wayzgoose Conference.  It is located in Wisconsin.  I can’t wait!!!!!

Marking the end of summer, Wayzgoose traditionally commemorates an annual gathering of printing staff as they used the last of the season’s pulp to paper the windows in preparation for winter. Hamilton Wood Type and Printing Museum is once again hosting a modern revival in Two Rivers, Wisconsin. We are proud to welcome printers, designers, historians and typographers from the U.S. and Europe to this conference.
