JENNA RODRIGUEZ

In two weeks I will be onto new adventures in Chicago.  I will be attending Columbia College in the fall to study book and paper art.  I had an amazing time teaching elementary art!!!  I am going to miss it sooooo much but I know if I don’t go back to school now I never will.  My ultimate goal is to be a college professor which requires your masters.  So here is to new beginnings!!!!! 🙂

In celebration of youth art month make some art!!!!!!!!!!!

This weekend at ODU the art education department is doing a collaborative art project for Martin Luther King day.  Folk artist Mama Girl came and had an artist talk with the student body on Sat. 1-16-2010.  She is from the Eastern Shore and creates all of her art with newspaper, glue, and paint. After the artist talk we went to work in the classroom teaching the ODU students her techniques.  Everyone in the workshop is creating a figure and on Monday we are going to paint the figures and put them all together to create the march for Martin Luther King.  Mama Girl created Martin who will be leading the march. I thought this is an excellent collaborative project and I can not wait to see the final results!!!!!  It will be on display in the visual arts building at ODU.

Tomorrow night January 15th is the opening reception for the Hampton Arts League Member Exhibition 2010.  It is located at The Charles H. Taylor Art Center.  I have one piece in this show! If you can make it come out if not the show will be up till February 21st.

I finished my student teaching and had the most amazing experiences ever!!! I absolutely loved student teaching!  Although tomorrow I will be graduating, finally!

I only have one more week of student teaching!  Then I am done and in two weeks I will be graduating! I am really exciting about graduating but I am sad about student teaching ending! I have had such an amazing experience and I have learned so much!

We had an awesome turn out for our senior show opening!  I could not believe it! Thanks everyone who was able to make it! If you were not able to make it the show is up till October 22nd! Go check it out!
